We need your help…

Our aim is to build a marketplace from the ground up and we’d like you to be our Engineer Network Manager sinking all of your energy into the supply side of that marketplace. Here’s a flavour of what we’d like you to focus on.

We’re going to need engineers. Lots of them and fast! For us ‘engineer’ is the term we use for the broad range of skilled tradesmen who work with their hands to complete the jobs our customers need. Our network includes plumbers, heating engineers, electricians and IT technicians — a broad range of trades and that’s only just the beginning.

Step one is sourcing and effectively on-boarding a huge number of talented engineers across multiple markets. As we do so you will set the most appropriate processes in place to make it easier the next time. You have a ton of experience defining lightweight processes for complicated, fragmented, rapidly changing environments and understand that the art to this is to keep things simple and ensure the focus is on the task, not the process itself.

We believe training will be a critical a part of incentivising freelance engineers to join the network. We’d like you to help us understand what the best training process, product and format will be for a distributed multi-disciplinary mobilised workforce.

You will act as the go-to contact for all engineer queries, identifying the most frequently asked questions and taking responsibility for turning those questions into a well managed cross-platform Engineer FAQ.

As the business grows so will the demands on our network, we understand that our service delivery will be critical to our success and as such we’d like to get things right from the get go. By working closely with our data science teams to understand the logistics you will be responsible for defining a scalable network capacity plan.

We already have some fabulous ideas about how we deliver on that goal but we’d love you to immerse yourself in this world and become ‘the voice of the network’.

Let’s be clear, we are not necessarily looking for a skilled plumber or Gas Safe registered engineer here (though of course we wouldn’t say no if you have these qualifications). The role is far more about communication and utilising your broad technical mindset than it is hands on engineering or deep knowledge of a particular trade.

Your past experience in an engineering discipline coupled with your practical mindset ensure you are a perfect fit for our identified persona of the “diy have-a-go hero”.

You are comfortable operating in a high-growth environment and relish the opportunity to work with an outstanding multi-discipline team with a chance to create something special.

You are of course comfortable with a broad range of software (Google Docs, MS Office, Adobe CC Suite) but more importantly you’re confident in your ability to learn any software environment quickly and select the right tool for the job.
